Ashroff Omar
Chairman – Joint Apparel Associations Forum

Fabric & Apparel Accessory Manufacturers’ Association will serve as an excellent link between the Sri Lanka Apparel Manufacturers’ Association, the Joint Apparel Associations Forum and those who manufacture and supply accessories and provide support services to the garment manufacturing and export idustry, which today forms the backbone of the national economy.

With this end in mind I was of the view that it was timely that a forum to represent the fabric & apparel accessory manufacturers be formed.  The primary objective being to protect and foster the interests of the fabric producing and accessory manufacturing industries in Sri Lanka. I have no doubt that FAAMA will grow from strength to strength and I wish the Association every success.

Moji AKingbade
Chairperson – Apparel Accessory Manufacturers Sector

FAAMA came into existence with the clear purpose of giving a “voice” – be it on a local platform or internationally, to its members who represent the vast number of suppliers to the apparel industry. The association is also intent on playing a pivotal role in helping to raise the profile of the Sri Lankan garment industry worldwide.

The association acknowledges and embraces the benefits of an interdependent relationship which would result in positive gains for the apparel sector stakeholders, as opposed to each working independently. To that end, the initial task of the apparel accessory manufacturers sector would be to focus on strengthening our links witht he apparel manufacturers and forums through mutual support of each other interest and concerns, plus to work side by side in achieving the goal of growing and sustaining the Sri Lankan apparel industry. There is truth in the saying “there is strength in numbers”. collaboration on a local level would best place Sri Lanka to compete successfully in the internal arena.

  Jeyam Perumal
Chairman – Founder Committee

Through the foresight and untiring efforts of a few fabric and apparel accessory manufacturers, the formation of FAAMA became a reality on Monday the 22nd of September 2003.  With just eight founder members in attendance a committee was formed and office bearers were elected.  From there onwards we have successfully drafted a constitution, registered the association, found office space to operate from, embarked on a membership drive and prepared an action plan.

Fabric & Apparel Accessory Manufacturers Association has a primary responsibility to serve the garment and apparel manufacturers and retailers, while strengthening  and safeguarding the interests of its membership with an integrated effort. The committee is fully aware of its responsibilities and is committed serve its membership in every possible manner.
